When Paul Richards, Warehouse and Transport Manager at FSW – the specialist refrigeration and air-conditioning manufacturing and reconditioning business based in Cannock - won the £1,000 prize for his nominated charity in our annual customer satisfaction survey, he knew immediately where it was going.
A poignant connection to the local St Giles Hospice in Whittington near Lichfield, where his best friend’s sister had passed away, was for Paul the best possible choice.
He said: “When you lose someone like that, it is great to be able to give something back to the place that cared for her in her final days. We have organised a lot of draws and events for them, so this was an added bonus.”
Paul has been with FSW for 23 years and oversees warehousing and transport out of the 27 branches that handle the company’s manufacturing, delivering and fitting of products across the UK.
He continued: “We have a great relationship with the Stoke branch of Dawsongroup, taking a mix of tractors and 18, 7.5 and 7.2-tonne rigids over the years. They are easy to deal with and always there for us when we need them, so it was no problem to fill in their survey and provide honest feedback.
“Honesty proved the best policy, and I was delighted to be drawn out of the hat from all the other people who responded and get the £1,000. It will go straight to St Giles and they genuinely deserve it.”
Our Contract Hire Manager, Sue Perry, accompanied Paul to present the £1,000 cheque to Faye Steele, Regional Fundraiser, at St Giles Hospice near Lichfield. She said: “It takes a community to make a hospice and we couldn’t do what we do without people like Paul.”
