Compliance coming of age - and at the forefront of everything we do

15.01.21

In a recent webinar, organised by leading trade magazines Commercial Motor and Motor Transport, a review of advances in the electronic monitoring of operators’ compliance provided a useful insight into how the science is advancing.

Drawing on expertise from specialist technology provider, Aquarius, and first-hand experience of temperature-controlled distribution operator, FreshLinc, the seminar investigated methods of enabling operators to integrate electronic processes across fleets and transport offices.

For example, it considered data integration between defect reporting and vehicle maintenance scheduling systems to enhance notification and turn around processes for defect rectification and scheduling of servicing and inspections.

Crucially, of course, such systems allow operators to demonstrate best practise to the authorities if needed, and enables those on the Earned Recognition Scheme to accurately report on driver and vehicle performance measures.

I welcome the updates. Commercial Motor and Motor Transport offer a great service on issues like this. It’s vitally important for professional operators to ensure compliance in all areas. It’s what helps us all sleep at night.

Compliance is becoming more extensive, more complicated and more demanding. Here at Dawsongroup truck and trailer, it’s at the forefront of everything we do. We take our customers’ reputations seriously and supply the safest trucks and trailers on the road.

As part of our rental, leasing and contract hire services, we’re taking on increasing amounts of vehicle compliance and, as a result, we’re investing millions of pounds per year in the necessary tests, inspections and technology to ensure that it’s delivered and documented to the highest standards.

In an ever-changing industry, we have the skills and experience to keep our customers updated on the latest developments and best practices and, by delegating compliance to us, our customers can take advantage of our expertise going back many years.

Not only does this make good economic sense but it also minimises vehicle downtime and takes the burden off operators by helping them focus on doing what they do well - running and growing their businesses efficiently and effectively.
