James, 56, had been with the business for three years, developing Dawsondirect, the successful remarketing side of Dawsongroup truck and trailer. He retains that role and now takes on responsibility for an overall team of around 20 people handling all key sales channels across our truck and trailer operations.
He said, “This is a fantastic opportunity. Dawsongroup truck and trailer is big enough to make its presence felt in the market, but we prove time and again that we’re still agile enough to deliver quickly and competitively for customers.
"We’ve a strong sales team in place already, and my role will be to develop the strategic approach to market, enabling and bringing all our key people together as a single effective unit. Customers know and trust us: we did everything in our power to support them throughout the pandemic and other recent challenges. They don’t forget that and we certainly never take their business for granted.”
We currently have a fleet in excess of 11,000 trucks and trailers, and have the added customer advantage of sister companies able to add vans, forklifts, temperature control units, sweepers, buses, coaches and finance options for our customers.
Our Managing Director, John Fletcher, commented, “James has done a terrific job in streamlining and expanding Dawsondirect, our used sales business. He is exactly the sort of senior, experienced manager we need to head up our overall sales operation and I was delighted he felt excited by the challenge and accepted the role with genuine enthusiasm.”
Prior to joining Dawsongroup, James hunter, who is married and has three sons, ran his own successful transport business in South Africa for many years and worked with Veolia and Arriva in the UK.
